Built a subsystem to control the operation of a 10hp hydraulic pump, shutting it off when not needed. This reduced it's run time by more than 80%, saving a significant amount on energy,
as well as increasing the service interval to annual from monthly.
The control package had an installed price of less than $700. The system had a payback time of less than a year.
The data gathered at the time of the control change, later led to an additional savings when the hydraulic pump motor needed to be replaced:
a several hundred dollar savings was gained by purchasing a 7hp motor for the system, leading to even more energy savings.
